Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and TECHPSILON S.R.L., the Romanian company that makes Roola. They cover the Roola mobile app, the Roola for Business web app, and this website (together, “Roola”). By creating an account, you accept them, so please read them first. We’ve kept them as short and plain as we could.
How we handle your personal data is explained separately, in our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
Roola is provided by TECHPSILON S.R.L., registered office Șoseaua Linia de Centură nr. 50, bl. Q11, sc. 1, et. 2, ap. 205, Ștefăneștii de Jos, județul Ilfov, Romania, trade register number J2022004638236, EUID ROONRC.J2022004638236, tax ID (CUI) 46470930. You can reach us at hello@roola.app.
2. Who can use Roola
You need to be at least 16 to use Roola. If you use it for a business, you must also be allowed to act for that business, and you accept these terms on its behalf as well as your own.
3. Your account
One Roola account works everywhere: the same login lets you collect rewards in the mobile app and run a business in the business web app. You can sign in with an email address and password, or with Google, Apple or Microsoft where we offer it.
Give us accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, so if you think someone else has got into it, tell us at hello@roola.app straight away. One account per person, please.
4. Using Roola as a customer
- Check in only when you’re really there. A scan counts when you visit in person. Scanning a photo of a code, a code someone sent you, or using more than one account to collect more isn’t allowed.
- Play fair. No fake scans, no scripts or bots, and no tampering with the app.
- Progress, points and collectibles have no cash value. They aren’t money or a voucher, and they can’t be sold, swapped or moved to another account.
- Rewards are claimed in person, at the business, under the conditions it set for that reward, including any expiry date.
- If we find fraudulent scans, we may remove the progress, points and rewards they produced, and suspend or close the accounts involved.
5. Using Roola as a business
- Applying. A business is registered in the business web app by its owner, or by someone allowed to act for it. We review every business before it goes live, and we’ll let you know by email whether it was approved.
- Accurate information. Keep your business profile, locations and contact details accurate and current, and only use names and text you have the right to use.
- Honouring rewards. A reward you publish is a promise to your customers. Give every reward that unlocks, under the conditions you set, for as long as you said it would be available. If you stop offering a reward, the ones customers have already unlocked still need to be honoured until they expire.
- Following the law. You’re responsible for what you offer and for the rules that apply to it, such as consumer protection, food safety and tax, and the age limits for alcohol and tobacco.
- Your QR codes. Display your Roola codes where customers actually visit you, and don’t hand them out to be scanned anywhere else.
- Your team. A business’s owners and admins decide who can manage it in Roola, and are responsible for what those people do there.
6. Approval, rejection and suspension
We decide which businesses appear on Roola. We can turn down an application, and we can suspend or remove a business that breaks these terms, misleads its customers, doesn’t honour its rewards, or puts customers or Roola at risk.
Where we can, we’ll tell you why and give you the chance to put things right first. If the problem is serious or urgent, we may act straight away. If you think we got it wrong, write to us at hello@roola.app and we’ll look at it again.
7. Rewards come from businesses
Rewards are offered by the businesses on Roola, not by us. Each business decides what its rewards are and on what conditions, and is responsible for providing them and for their quality. We aren’t a party to that arrangement between you and the business. If something goes wrong with a reward, talk to the business first; if that doesn’t help, tell us, and we’ll do what we reasonably can, including acting under section 6.
8. Fair use
Don’t use Roola to break the law, to mislead or harm anyone, or to send spam. Don’t try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, to overload or disrupt the service, or to copy, scrape or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows it.
9. Your content
What a business puts into Roola, such as its name, description and rewards, stays its own. It allows us to store it, show it to people using Roola and fit it to the screen, for as long as it’s in Roola, so that we can run the service.
10. Price
Roola is free for now, for customers and for businesses. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you the price and terms in advance, and nothing will cost you money unless you choose to sign up for it.
11. The service as it is
We work hard to keep Roola running well, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features as Roola grows; if a change takes away something that matters to you, we’ll tell you in advance where we reasonably can. To the extent the law allows, Roola is provided as it is.
12. Liability
We’re responsible for foreseeable losses we cause by breaking these terms. We aren’t responsible for losses nobody could have foreseen, for lost profits or business opportunities, for what a business does or fails to do about a reward, or for problems caused by events outside our reasonable control.
If you use Roola for a business, you’re responsible to us for claims by your customers or by others that arise from your rewards, your content, or your breaking these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as for harm caused on purpose or through gross negligence, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
13. Ending things
You can stop using Roola whenever you like, and delete your account from the app at any time. Deleting your account erases your personal data, as the Privacy Policy explains. A business you own on your own is deleted with it, together with its locations, rewards and codes.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. We’ll tell you why, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us. The parts of these terms that by their nature should outlast your account, such as liability and governing law, keep applying.
14. Changes to these terms
We’ll update these terms as Roola changes. When we do, we change the date at the top and tell you before the new terms take effect, in the app or by email. When a change matters, we’ll ask you to accept the new terms the next time you use Roola. If you don’t agree with them, you can delete your account.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Romanian law, and disputes go to the competent courts at our registered office. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can also go to the courts there, or complain to the Romanian consumer protection authority, ANPC.
We’d much rather sort things out together first, so please write to us at hello@roola.app.
16. The small print
If part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something straight away, we haven’t given up the right to. You can’t transfer your account or these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Roola, and we’ll tell you if that happens. These terms are published in English and in Romanian, and both versions say the same thing.
